Harry Niska for Attorney General

Harry Niska Announces Candidacy for Minnesota Attorney General

RAMSEY, MN — Today, Harry Niska, a business litigation attorney from Ramsey, MN, announced his campaign for Minnesota Attorney General.

“For far too long, politicians have put their own political ambitions in front of their duties to Minnesotans. Our Attorney General has been no exception – pursuing headlines, but refusing to take on cases that are legally difficult or do not serve as a political win. I intend to change that approach and culture of the Attorney General’s office,” said Niska. “I’ve built a career litigating complex cases – not as a politician, but as someone who is dedicated to the rule of law – and now I want to use my experience to fight for all Minnesotans. I’m running to enforce and uphold the law on behalf of all Minnesotans in every courtroom.”

“I believe as the next Attorney General for the great state of Minnesota, I can use my real-world legal experience on behalf of the people of Minnesota,” said Niska. “The Attorney General needs to protect consumers against dishonest businesses, aggressively prosecute violent criminals, and defend the Constitution, and I am committed to doing just that.

Joining as Chair of the the Niska for Attorney General campaign is Representative Peggy Scott. “Harry brings the kind of integrity Minnesotans should expect from our Attorney General. His legal experience and high moral principles are exactly what we need in our next Attorney General,” said Representative Scott.

A lifelong Minnesotan, Niska was born in Andover and graduated from Anoka High School and Concordia College in Moorhead. He met his wife Jen in Sioux Falls while she was studying for a Masters in Christian Leadership and Leadership Development at Sioux Falls Seminary and where he clerked at the Eighth Circuit Court of Appeals. They live in Ramsey with their children.

Niska earned his law degree at the University of Minnesota Law School and has been practicing law for more than 10 years. He served as a clerk to the Honorable Roger L. Wollman for the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Eighth Circuit and then worked as an attorney at Kirkland & Ellis LLP in Chicago for several years. Niska is currently a partner at Ross & Orenstein in Minneapolis where he practices in the areas of securities, financial fraud, contract, and antitrust litigation.

Niska, who has been active with Republican Party and campaigns, will seek and abide by the Republican endorsement for Attorney General.
